Brewery Restaurant Plevna
Plevna is a well-known brewpub and restaurant (panimoravintola) located in the historic Finlayson area of Tampere. Set inside a former industrial building, Plevna combines a warm, rustic atmosphere with Czech-inspired food and house-brewed beers. The restaurant is especially known for its traditional Central European flavours, generous portions, and relaxed dining experience that suits both locals and visitors.
The kitchen focuses on Czech (tšekkiläinen) and European (eurooppalainen) cuisine, with hearty dishes designed to pair perfectly with freshly brewed beers. Signature items include Plevnan gulassi (Plevna-style goulash) served with perunapyörykät (potato dumplings) and slow-cooked beef (naudanliha – beef) in a rich paprika-based sauce. Another popular choice is Wieninleike (Viennese schnitzel), made with breaded pork (porsaanliha – pork) and served with lemon (sitruuna – lemon) and classic sides. Sausage lovers often choose Makkaralautanen (sausage platter), featuring grilled sausages (grillatut makkarat – grilled sausages), sauerkraut (hapankaali – sauerkraut), and mustard (sinappi – mustard).
Vegetarian options are also available, including Kasvispyörykät (vegetable patties) served with seasonal vegetables (kauden kasvikset – seasonal vegetables) and creamy sauces. Burgers, salads, and lighter meals add variety to the menu, making Plevna suitable for different tastes and dining occasions.
What truly sets Plevna apart is its own brewery (oma panimo). Their selection includes lagers, dark beers, wheat beers, and seasonal specials, all brewed on-site using traditional methods. With its combination of comforting food, handcrafted beer, and historic surroundings, Plevna offers a distinctive dining experience rooted in Tampere’s industrial heritage.
